FAQ
Common questions, straight answers.
If yours is not here, call (239) 597-5007.
My AC is running but not cooling. What should I check before calling?
Make sure the thermostat is set to Cool and below the room temperature, check that the air filter is not clogged, and check the breakers for the indoor and outdoor units. If the outdoor unit is not running, there is ice on the refrigerant lines, or you notice a burning smell, turn the system off and call (239) 597-5007.
Should I repair my AC or replace it?
It depends on the age and condition of the system, what the repair costs, and how well it keeps the house comfortable. A good technician explains the options plainly. One long-time All Star customer wrote on Google that the team does its best “to avoid a total replacement.”
How often should an AC be serviced in Southwest Florida?
Systems here run for most of the year, so regular professional maintenance matters more than it does in milder climates. Many manufacturers also require maintenance to keep a warranty valid, so check your paperwork — and ask us what makes sense for your system.
Water is pooling near my indoor unit. What does that mean?
Most often it is a clogged condensate drain line, which is common in humid climates. Many systems have a safety switch that shuts the AC off when the drain backs up. Turn the system off to avoid water damage, and give us a call.
Why does my house feel cold but clammy?
That is usually a humidity problem rather than a temperature problem. Common causes include a system that cycles on and off too quickly to pull moisture out of the air, a dirty coil, or an airflow issue. It is worth having it looked at.
What should I do with the AC when I leave for the season?
Do not shut it off completely — a closed-up home in Florida humidity can grow mold. Leave the system running at a higher setting, and consider having it checked before you go.
Do you work on pool heaters?
Yes. All Star is a warranty service provider for Raypak® and Hayward®, and repairs all electric heat-pump pool heaters. Most minor repairs are performed in one trip.
What areas do you serve?
All Star is based in Naples and serves Naples and Bonita Springs. Somewhere else nearby? Call (239) 597-5007 and ask.
How do I get a quote?
Call (239) 597-5007, or send the request form with a few details about your system — what it is doing and roughly how old it is. The more we know up front, the better.
